cultivating awareness
from within

move through life with ease

  • movement (classes)

My classes include online & live somatics classes and live gentle classes which combine a blend of yoga, somatics, balance and breath awareness. All classes help to cultivate awareness and brain-body connection while calming the nervous system.

  • writing circles (awa)

The AWA method is grounded with supportive commentary that offers a safe container for writers to explore their voice and written craft.

  • somatic education (1-1)

Clinical Somatics Education sessions (1-1) are the most effective way to begin to restore muscle function, improve movement and eliminate pain.

Sharon has taught yoga and movement since 1999 in her community of Kawartha Lakes. She opened the first dedicated yoga studio in Lindsay Ontario, path to stillness yoga and focused on mindful practices that could help support positive shifts for health and wellbeing. Her interest has been rooted in the therapeutic aspects of movement as a way to settle the nervous system.

Since 2014 she has continued her Somatic studies with Martha Peterson and Essential Somatics. Clinical Somatic Education and somatic explorations have offered Sharon (and her clients) a powerful practice towards rewiring patterns of movement to reduce pain and increase ease. She believes somatics cultivates a more vivid sense of presence to move through daily life. Beyond her studio walls, she is on the team for Essential Somatics Movement Training, a facilitator for the Mind-Body Mental Health program at her local hospital and continues outreach for organizations with an interest in mental health.

  • Thanks for today’s class - I was amazed at how much better I walked after the achey feet session. I’ve been waiting for knee replacement surgery and walking without pain has been a challenge. What a difference in my gait and much less pain, thanks to your somatic classes!

    - Carol Ann Gallant, Bethany

  • With a cast from wrist to underarm, feeling lopsided, and increasing shoulder pain, I reached out to Sharon. After doing her ‘Slouched and Slumped’ audio, my tension was f*#king released & relaxed. Damn, she’s good!”

    — Krystyna Roberts, Toronto, ON

  • Sharon helped me after I threw out my back. She was knowledgeable and thorough and helped reduce my pain through a somatics treatment. Sharon also gave me great advice on things I could do on my own at home to prevent the pain from coming back.

    — Lysa Lapointe, Toronto

  • The Somatic educators at The Liberated Body have invested many, many years of training and experience in movement therapy in order to share these amazingly effective movements with anyone who has a body and has ever experienced chronic pain — that probably includes everyone! You don’t have to “just learn to live with it” or accept it as an inevitable part of aging. Get moving and check it out for yourself; your body will thank you for it!
